چکیده

Understanding the underlying pleiotropic relationships among growth and body size traits is important for refining breeding strategies in dairy cattle optimal rate. Therefore, we performed single-trait genome-wide association studies (GWAS) monthly-recorded weight (BW), hip height (HH), length (BL) chest girth (CG) from birth to 12 mo of age Holstein animals, followed by stepwise multiple regression independent or lowly-linked markers GWAS loci using conditional joint analyses (COJO). Subsequently, conducted a multi-trait meta-analysis detect markers. Based on GWAS, identified 170 significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which 59 them remained after COJO analyses. The most SNP, located at BTA7:3,676,741, explained 2.93% total phenotypic variance BW6 (body 6 age). We 17 SNPs with potential effects based meta-analyses, resulted 3 additional comparison those detected GWAS. quantitative trait (QTL) regions overlap genes known influence human growth-related traits. According positional functional analyses, proposed HMGA2, HNF4G, MED13L, BHLHE40, FRZB, DMP1, TRIB3, GATAD2A as candidate influencing studied combination meta-analyses results improved efficiency detecting associated SNPs, provided new insights into genetic mechanisms development cattle.

Integrative Transcriptome, Genome and Quantitative Trait Loci Resources Identify Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Candidate Genes for Growth Traits in Turbot

Growth traits represent a main goal in aquaculture breeding programs and may be related to adaptive variation in wild fisheries. Integrating quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping and next generation sequencing can greatly help to identify variation in candidate genes, which can result in marker-assisted selection and better genetic structure information. Turbot is a commercially important flatf...

Multi-Trait GWAS and New Candidate Genes Annotation for Growth Curve Parameters in Brahman Cattle

Understanding the genetic architecture of beef cattle growth cannot be limited simply to the genome-wide association study (GWAS) for body weight at any specific ages, but should be extended to a more general purpose by considering the whole growth trajectory over time using a growth curve approach. For such an approach, the parameters that are used to describe growth curves were treated as phe...

Biochemical and Comparative Transcriptomic Analyses Identify Candidate Genes Related to Variegation Formation in Paeonia rockii.

Paeonia rockii is a wild tree peony species with large and dark purple variegations at the base of its petals. It is the genetic resource for various variegation patterns in tree peony cultivars, which is in contrast to the pure white petals of Paeonia ostii. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the formation of variegation in this plant is still unknown. Here, we conducted Illumina tran...

Selective breeding, quantitative trait locus analysis, and gene arrays identify candidate genes for complex drug-related behaviors.

Acute functional tolerance to ethanol develops during a single exposure to ethanol; it has been suggested to be a predisposing factor for the development of ethanol dependence. Genetic determinants of acute functional tolerance, as well as of ethanol dependence, have been clearly demonstrated. We describe a novel approach that uses a combination of selective breeding (to segregate genes contrib...

Quantitative trait loci affecting calving traits in Danish Holstein cattle.

The objectives of this study were 1) to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting direct and maternal calving traits at first calving in the Danish Holstein population, 2) to distinguish between pleiotropic and linked QTL for chromosome regions affecting more than one trait, and 3) to detect QTL affecting stillbirth and calving difficulties but not calf size that could be used in selection...
